Content Specialist - Communications for customers

As a Content Specialist we'll be looking for you to raise the bar continually for writing fresh copy that connects with a desired audience and drives action; be adept at varying the voice, style, and other characteristics of messaging based on target audience; maintain up-to-date knowledge of communications and industry trends; stay current on the appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistent messaging.
You'll need to have strong copywriting experience and will be an editor with exceptional attention to detail. You'll be confident creating content for a range of channels, from long-form website articles and customer letters to snappy and engaging social posts. We're a small team with a wide remit, so we're looking for a team player who's happy to use their initiative and get stuck in wherever they're needed.

Responsibilities
- Interpret creative briefs to develop concepts for execution.
- Research and understand needs and target audiences, through online searches, reviews of existing research, interviews with subject-matter experts, and in-person meetings.
- Write original copy and edit content for a range of marketing and communications materials.
- Collaborate with others in the communication team, from concept development to delivery of final product.
- Revise copy based on internal feedback from SMEs.
- Create and deliver high quality written content, from micro copy to long form.
- Adhere to the in-house style guide to ensure consistency in all our content.
- Proofread and edit content created by others.
- Help to foster a culture of innovation, creativity and collaboration.
- Help to Identify, mitigate, manage and record reputational, directorate, and team risks.
My Knowledge - what I need to know
- Relevant experience in a similar role including professional copywriting and proofreading experience.
- Highly articulate with an excellent understanding of written English and exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to write for a variety of formats and channels.
- Strong social media and / or customer communication experience and knowledge of what makes a great post for different platforms.
- Highly organised and able to manage and prioritise multiple commitments, delivering all of them to a high standard.
- Creative thinker with an ability to develop interesting and innovative ideas for new content.
- A proactive approach and confident working on your own initiative.
- Team player willing to turn your hand to many different tasks. Competent using MS Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience with content management systems.
- Keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design.
