Job Title - Cost Manager (Mechanical & Electrical)

Project - Large Mix use in East London

Salary - Up to £95,000 plus a bonus and an excellent benefits package

Client and Job Summary:

Cobalt are working with a very well-known contractor that have an opportunity for a Cost Manager to join one of their flag ship mix use projects in East London. Responsible for assisting in all Mechanical & Electrical aspects of the financial and contractual management.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Discharge responsibilities for Health and Safety as set out in our clients Health Safety and Welfare manual also the Health and Safety Plan both in respect of the package and integration of the overall project.
  • Manages specific elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
  • Assist with development of approved tender lists and provide a budget analysis.
  • Assist with preparation of tender documentation.
  • Assist with commercial evaluation of tenders including meetings, supplemental bid documentation, and recommendation report.
  • Assist with preparation of contract documentation for execution.
  • Review trade contract and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective, report and respond, including requests for information, as necessary.
  • Liaise with contractors and/or Client representatives to ensure instructions raised/acted upon, costs received, agreed and change orders issued on a regular basis.
  • Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout the various contract durations.
  • Assist in inspection of trade contract works for quality and completion from a commercial perspective, and advice and/or resolve, as necessary.
  • Prepare interim valuations for progress payment.
  • Negotiate and prepare final accounts.
  • Project cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
  • Trade contract cost forecasting on a regular basis.
  • Analysis of final accounts to provide information for cost planning purposes.
  • Assist with the preparation of Insurance claim documentation.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested and assigned by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
  • Assist with cost plan amendments.

What We Require of You:

  • Quantity Surveying practical work experience, ideally on large commercial and/or residential projects working on Mechanical & Electrical packages , is highly desirable.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
  • The individual should possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong negotiation skills are essential.
  • Computer Literacy is an essential requirement of this role.
  • The possession of a positive and helpful attitude is essential as is a strong customer service orientation.
  • It is essential that the incumbent is able to maintain excellent working relationships with the rest of a diverse project team and all levels of the organisation, on a one to one and group basis.
