I am currently working with a highly accomplished Legal 500 Law firm who are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join their Crime team.

The Court of Protection can make decisions about the health and welfare, and the property and financial affairs of adults who lack mental capacity to make decisions for themselves.

My client are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly specialist team which provides advice, assistance and representation to vulnerable adults who may lack capacity to make certain decisions, predominantly in relation to their health and welfare and often in complex and high-profile cases. The team normally acts through a litigation friend, such as the Official Solicitor, an advocate or a Relevant Person's Representative. We also represent family members, carers and other people interested in a vulnerable adult's welfare.

The role -

To assist the Court of Protection team to include but not limited to:

  • Support and assist fee earners with all aspects of case preparation
  • Draft Legal Aid applications
  • Draft a wide range of documents, including court orders and witness statements
  • Conduct legal research
  • Process and organize evidence
  • Prepare, collate, and order documentation
  • Attend client meetings, case conferences, and court hearings
  • Handle new enquiries
  • Attend ongoing training to stay updated on relevant legal developments
  • Prepare court bundles
  • Perform various administrative tasks.

Training and close supervision would be provided by senior fee earners within team.

Skills & Experience

The right candidate will have excellent oral and written communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to empathise with vulnerable clients. In addition, they will be proactive, have strong organisational skills, and the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise in order to meet time recording and billing targets. Good IT skills are also a requirement.

Successful completion of BVC/LPC/SQE and previous paralegal experience are not required but highly desirable.
