Head of Financial Accounting

I am recruiting the Head of Group Financial Accounting for an international consultancy business (c£280m) based in Central London. This client is undergoing a finance transformation program to ensure that finance best aligns with the business following a sustained period of acquisition activity.

As the Head of Group Financial Accounting, you will:

  • Play a significant role in managing and enhancing a best-in-class Group financial control and reporting framework.
  • Lead a team responsible for statutory returns and management reporting, developing and standardising accounting policy while overseeing all period end close processes.
  • Lead transformation projects of both systems and processes, creating robust frameworks to drive efficiencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading the team to ensure the prompt and accurate delivery of all statutory and financial regulatory requirements for the Group and its entities at period end (monthly, quarterly, yearly) under IFRS.
  • Monthly presentation of departmental results to the CFO, including commentary and variance analysis.
  • Develop the team structure to streamline month-end procedures and deliver core financial processes.
  • Introduce a comprehensive monthly management reporting deck and KPI framework to align performance to strategic long-term goals.
  • Lead the audit process, collaborating with the wider group and Finance team.
  • Manage central finance team to the completion of local and statutory audit requirements.
  • Lead governance and balance sheet reconciliation and analysis throughout multiple reporting systems and structures.
  • Ensuring that appropriate financial controls are in place.
  • Provide up-to-date knowledge of relevant IFRS accounting standards.
  • Contribute to the development of the accounting and financial reporting strategy of the Group and to the overall performance of the Finance function as part of its leadership team.

Skills and Experience

  • Chartered accountant with strong training acquired through working at preferably within a Big 4 / Top 10 Audit firm. 10+ years PQE.
  • In addition to your training, you must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in industry, gained in the financial accounting function of a mid/large organisation.
  • Strong technical accounting skill set e.g., preparation of statutory and consolidated accounts under IFRS.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a high performing team.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Systems literate, with a focus on automation, process improvement etc.

Hybrid working model - 3 days per week in central london office.
