Job Title: Payroll Officer

Location: East Hull

Remuneration: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract, Until December 2025 at the earliest

Our client, a leading company specialising in building materials and contracting services in the construction industry, is seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join their team on a fixed term contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing organisation.

Responsibilities:

Oversea all aspects of payroll, including monthly, weekly, and fortnightly payroll processing for approximately 500 PAYE staff and 200 subcontractors.
Work closely with the HR department, providing support in documentation, recruitment, and other administrative tasks.
Mentor and provide guidance to an apprentice within the payroll team.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of timesheets, chasing down any outstanding information from employees and managers.
Utilise payroll systems, such as SAGE and Excel, to manage and process subcontractor payments.
Stay up to date with legislation and industry trends to provide accurate information and advice to the payroll team and apprentice.
Prioritise workload and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

The successful candidate will have:

A level 3 qualification in payroll or relevant field.
Strong experience in payroll processing, preferably within a construction or similar industry.
Proficiency in using payroll systems, such as SAGE, and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Knowledge of legislation and regulations related to payroll.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
A helpful and nurturing nature, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
The flexibility to adapt to a changing business environment.
