Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join this dynamic secondary school team in Crawley. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task with the pre-set work and maintaining a productive and orderly learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and maintain an orderly and focused environment in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Motivate and support students, ensuring they understand and complete the set work to the best of their ability.
  • Manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies, ensuring a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Provide assistance to students where necessary, addressing queries and clarifying instructions.
  • Report any issues, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate member of staff, Head cover manager.
  • Ensure that classrooms are ready for lessons and that resources are returned or stored appropriately at the end of the session.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to student learning and well-being.
  • Complete any administrative tasks related to the cover lessons, such as taking attendance and submitting reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a school setting or working with young people is desirable but not essential.
  • A relevant qualification or degree is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage behaviour effectively and remain calm under pressure.
