Watford Together, United by Possibility

In Watford, we believe there are no limits to what we can achieve. A dynamic hub on the capital's doorstep, and a gateway to Hertfordshire and beyond, Watford is the centre of a sub-region serving around 500,000 people living within a 20 minute travelling time. We have a reputation as a vibrant place that seeks out and embraces new ways of getting things done, and thanks to our super-connectivity by road, rail, bus and London Underground, Watford businesses can reach over half the UK economy within just one hour.

Watford Borough Council is recognised as one of the most forward-looking and creative district councils in the country. We are seriously ambitious for our town and our people, thrive on thinking differently and pushing the boundaries where we can achieve more for Watford and our community. With our ambitious Council Plan 2022- 26, supported by a dynamic corporate management team and new values and behaviours, supporting a truly agile mindset, this is an exciting time to join 'team Watford'.

The Role:

Are you an experienced housing professional looking for an exciting challenge? Do you have experience of providing a front-line customer-focused service, as required by The Homelessness Reduction Act 2017? Are you able to deliver change in a complex policy environment?

Watford Borough Council is strengthening its housing service to meet the significant housing challenges faced by its residents. A strong focus will be managing demand for the Council's Housing Services.

This role is an exciting and challenging post for an experienced housing officer, giving you the opportunity to work across internal and external partners to deliver on shared outcomes. We are a forward-thinking authority that is ambitious, innovative, entrepreneurial, and works as a team to deliver services.

We are looking for someone with the right approach and enthusiasm to take our housing service forward and build strong policy foundations.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will have the drive to ensure the council meets its statutory duty. Ideally, candidates will already be working in a housing role and will be able to hit the ground running.

Key requirements include effective communication skills, partnership working, the ability and motivation to solve problems, personal credibility and an approach that builds rapport and confidence. In return, we are committed to supporting you to develop, both personally and in terms of your specialist knowledge.

If you are driven by a challenge and ready to contribute to a council that delivers beyond expectations, embodies agility and innovation, and prioritises the well-being and prosperity of its community, we would like to hear from you. We offer this chance to work for a local authority that has an outstanding reputation as an exciting place to work, with transformational plans in place for both the borough and the council and where you will have a great opportunity to really succeed.

Sound exciting? Come and join our team, come and make a difference.

Successful applicants will need to attend our Assessment Centre.
