HR Shared Service Manager People Direct Manager

Are you passionate about creating a seamless and professional People experience for your colleagues? Join our dynamic team as an HR Shared Service Manager, leading our People Direct team. You'll manage and develop our HR shared service, ensuring a light-touch approach for routine employee needs and a personalized service when required. You'll play a key role in setting up and evolving the People Direct Team into a business-as-usual function, utilizing multiple channels and processes to ensure continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Centre of Excellence: Develop a deep understanding of HR practices, translating technical aspects into effective ways of working.
  • Team Development: Coach and develop colleagues, fostering a highly motivated and engaged team.
  • Process Improvement: Design, initiate, and improve processes with key stakeholders.
  • MI Creation: Define and create appropriate Management Information (MI) with relevant stakeholders.
  • SLA Management: Develop and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure delivery.
  • KPI and KRI Management: Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Change Management: Ensure teams are change-ready and manage change effectively.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently manage team resources to deliver exceptional service.
  • Governance: Oversee the full range of employee services within People Direct.
  • Best Practices: Adopt best practices by learning from other organizations and industry developments.
  • Technology Integration: Work with People Systems and IT to ensure technology is fit for purpose.

Business Partnering & Risk Management:

  • Collaborate with various areas across the People Department to ensure that the services offered are fit for purpose and support their aims and requirements.
  • Link with the business more widely to ensure that the services offered align to the needs of employees and the business are effective.
  • Identify and mitigate risks with the People Direct Function. Escalate any risks to the Head of People that may affect the People Department or business more widely.

Team Structure:

  • 6 direct reports: 3 People Advisors & 3 People Administrators
  • Work closely with the Head of People to oversee spend on allocated projects/initiatives.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • CIPD qualified to at least L5, degree calibre preferred.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in HR Shared Service management or similar roles.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.

Skills:

  • Ability to deliver a high-quality HR generalist service.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Competence in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong feedback and coaching abilities.
