Group Financial Accountant

An exciting permanent opportunity has opened up in Central London for a Group Financial Accountant to join our client's team. The successful candidate must be a fully Qualified Accountant. In this role, you will be part of the Group finance team, focusing on technical accounting, UK statutory reporting, and the Group's consolidated annual accounts.

Responsibilities of the Group Financial Accountant will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Contribute to the preparation of the year-end annual report and accounts
  • Manage and produce statutory accounts for subsidiary companies, including audit coordination
  • Account for business disposals and acquisitions, assessing goodwill and intangible assets
  • Prepare Group goodwill and intangible asset impairment reviews
  • Prepare the statement of comprehensive income and statement of changes in equity
  • Collaborate on Group reorganisation transactions, ensuring compliance with step plans and prerequisites
  • Reconcile intercompany loans across the Group
  • Handle hive-ups, hive-downs, and mergers
  • Monitor new accounting standards and reporting requirements, assessing impacts and implementing changes
  • Provide technical and accounting support to finance teams in brands and the shared service centre
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation
  • Work with the Systems team to ensure effective finance systems and meet deadlines
  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process

The successful Group Financial Accountant will require the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Consolidation experience in a multinational group of companies
  • Proficient with financial consolidation systems such as Onestream or Hyperion
  • Strong technical skills in IFRS, UK GAAP, and the Companies Act
  • Effective use of finance systems to analyse large data sets
  • Proactive with strong communication skills
  • Technically and commercially astute
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and takes ownership of work
  • Comfortable interacting with senior management and executives
  • Excellent Excel skills and proficient in PowerPoint and Word
