Field Engineer

Are you a seasoned engineer with a passion for fieldwork and customer service?
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Field Base Engineer to join a Field Engineering team on behalf of our client. This role involves preventative maintenance and call-outs for industrial franking, printers, x-ray machines (post room equipment, not medical), and post x-ray machines.

Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong electrical/mechanical knowledge with a good understanding of electronics.
  • Good fault diagnosis and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and allocate tasks effectively.
  • Strong fact-finding and commercial awareness.
  • Proficiency with PCs and email.
  • Excellent interpersonal, empathy-building, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Structured and organized approach to work.
  • Ability to use assessing tools, multimedia, and diagnostics.
  • Experience in handling issues caused by user error and misfeeding.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong electrical/mechanical knowledge with a good understanding of electronics.
  • HND or BTEC in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Effective territory management skills.
  • Good Customer Interaction experience as this is face to face role visting Business Customer Sites

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure excellent area management.
  • Cover calls in various locations,
  • Diagnose and repair faults efficiently, aiming for a minimum 75% first-time fix rate.
  • Respond to urgent out-of-area requests as required.
  • Address user errors and misfeeding issues effectively.
  • Clear all quarterly Preventative Maintenance tasks in your area.
  • Assist with clearing tasks in areas to achieve company targets .
  • Achieve and maintain company breakdown SLA targets
  • Exhibit good commercial awareness.
  • Recognize and act on sales opportunities for the client's products and services.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
  • Implement operator training for customers with varying skill levels.
  • Motivate and encourage customers to use equipment correctly.
  • Integrate fully with the engineering team, maintaining a positive and motivated outlook.
  • Present a positive image of yourself and the client through your attitude, approach, and appearance.
  • Be flexible and responsive to change and future requirements.
  • Assist the Field Service Director and Customer Support Manager as needed.
