Hours: Monday to Friday 08:45-17:00.

Our client, a leading metal stockholder/processor in the Stockport area, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Goods Inwards Coordinator / Trainee Buyer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join an extremely well established organisation with clear progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Place orders, progress, and chase deliveries with suppliers, port agents, and hauliers.
  • Receive goods, record electronic data, and administer paperwork.
  • Ensure all required data is input accurately and promptly onto the stock database.
  • Monitor the supply and expected arrival dates of goods.
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with all suppliers.
  • Source specialist suppliers and negotiate prices within defined company guidelines.
  • Monitor subcontract workers and other visitors to the site.
  • Liaise with and support all departments of the business.
  • Help maintain Health and Safety standards.
  • Assist with implementing new procedures and processes as appropriate, to improve product supply and management of all purchasing tasks.
  • Provide support to other areas of the department as required and assist with stock-takes.
  • Carry out general purchasing administration duties.
  • Liaise with the Line Manager to resolve complex queries/discrepancies, to achieve an effective, timely resolution.
  • Carry out steel purchasing tasks as requested by the Line Manager.
  • Work closely with inter-company departments, i.e., sales, finance, and works, to achieve targets in QA and customer service.
  • Participate in and attend relevant meetings and training events as required, with a view to continually improving performance.
  • Ensure own health and safety and that of other employees is not put at risk by actions.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, protecting the company's interest at all times.

Requirements

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and willing to learn all aspects of the role.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate in a professional manner and build strong working relationships internally and externally.
  • Potential to be adaptable and work at pace in a highly demanding environment, with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing timescales and priorities.
  • Good analytical and effective problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Administration experience.
  • Willingness to act as part of a team and work towards achieving team goals.
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative.
  • Computer literate, with comprehensive Microsoft Office skills.
  • Numerate and good general level of education with a pass rate of 5 GCSEs, including Maths & English, and 2 A levels (desired).
