Job Title: OpenStack Site Reliability Engineer

Salary: Circa £80,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage, Bolton, Bristol

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 1-2 days per week on-site.

Security Clearance: British Citizen

This role will require SC Clearance. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

The role will be responsible for the OpenStack environment, instance creation and end user management / support of our model based engineering function. The role will manage and maintain the OpenStack environment, the OpenStack core components and ensure consistent and reproducible environments by development of scripts and utilisation of Ansible.

As an SRE the role is fully responsible for the health and performance of the environment and future capacity planning. The role will also work closely with our engineering teams to provide help and support for instances that will be created and used for rapid application development and testing.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Strong understanding of core OpenStack services (Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder) and also a high level of knowledge of the Ceph storage platform.
  • Skills in deployment and configuration of OpenStack environments using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Highly proficient with Linux OS and strong skills in using command line tools and scripting (bash, python) for automation tasks particularly with RHEL
  • Expertise in provisioning, configuring and managing virtual machines and containers within OpenStack.
  • Good understanding of monitoring and logging tools to ensure continuity of service and expertise in security best practices for configuring and maintaining OpenStack platforms.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to analyse complex problems and devise effective solutions.
  • Excellent customer service, teamwork and stakeholder management skills.
