- Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum
The Transport Planner will have experience in vehicle route planning and enjoy a role that involves admin and multi-tasking.
You will be working with internal drivers, allocating workloads, and ensuring efficient daily operations within our transport department.
Day to Day of the role:
- Plan and allocate drivers' rounds for the next day, ensuring efficient routing and load planning using our own fleet and TPN network.
- Re-route and plan specific loads, and allocate second runs to available drivers depending on the current plan.
- Manage client emails, ensuring information is correct, rates are accurate, and the required paperwork is supplied to customers/clients.
- Handle telephone queries from TPN depots, providing general information and ETA's.
- Prepare drivers' rounds, print loading lists, collection notes, and run sheets for drivers to get signed.
- Check and update details for Implants (customers with EDI links).
- Route vehicles for the next day, planning loads based on volumes versus vehicle size.
- Allocate daily vehicles/drivers to cover collection points and print labels for own fleet deliveries, issuing them to the warehouse.
- Monitor scans on trunk vehicles throughout the shift, matching details and coordinating with the warehouse as needed.
- Print trunk drivers' manifests with the correct QR code and outbound manifests each night, placing them in the outbound folder.
- Keep the whiteboard updated with priorities for the next day and update the drivers' list/availability for routing.
- Prioritise pallet movement to the hub based on dedicated delivery days or service levels.
- Print out general haulage records for the next day and document for accounts processing.
- Rebook TPN jobs from other depots and recharge for final delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Good telephone manner and customer service skills.
- Comfortable with IT, particularly MS Office packages.
- Fundamental knowledge of vehicle route planning.
- Good interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a small, multi-disciplined team.
- Ability to multitask and work on own initiative in a busy transport-oriented office.
