We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school team in the Thanet area. This temporary cover role is an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about making a difference in the lives of secondary students with special educational needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide tailored support to secondary students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment.
- Encourage students' independence, self-confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Monitor and support the social and emotional well-being of students.
- Facilitate communication between students and teaching staff.
- Adapt support techniques to suit the individual needs of each student.
- Assist with the supervision of students outside of classroom activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEN students.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by secondary students with special educational needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
