Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm (30 min lunch break)

Import Freight Coordinator - What You'll be Doing Each Day:

To manage all aspects of overseas transport in and out of the business. To ensure all goods are cleared under the correct commodity codes and ensure that we get the best service at the most competitive rates. Manage all Export transport with relevant paperwork checks, including TSS declarations. Understanding product classification along with required port health declarations.

Import Freight Coordinator - Responsibilities:

  • Organise all overseas transport and deal with any queries relating to this.
  • Obtain price quotes for all shipments and ensure the most competitive and effective solution is used.
  • Maintain regular meetings with freight forwarders and make sure that we get the best customer service possible.
  • Keep the transport tender up to date.
  • Review all transport invoices and pass them to the accounts department in a timely manner.
  • Resolve any pricing queries or complaints and escalate if necessary.
  • Check all customs clearance paperwork to ensure the right amount of duty has been paid and raise any issues with the transport companies if necessary.
  • Look after TSS and complete all declarations (customs clearance for goods going into NI)
  • Maintain the Control and Carriers spreadsheet with the help of the Logistics Stock Controller.
  • To analyse transport rates on a regular basis and flag up any variances to the rest of the team and the Business Analysis team.
  • Ensure commodity codes and duty rates are reviewed on a quarterly basis and research commodity codes for new lines.
  • Build strong working relationships with transport companies and suppliers.
  • Communicate effectively with the purchasing and logistics team and all other relevant departments.

Import Freight Coordinator - The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Experience of Freight Forwarding in particular sea freight and customs clearance procedures.
  • Obtaining best possible pricing in a competitive environment. Ensuring customs clearance is done accurately.
  • Negotiation skills
  • Confident communicator
  • Well organised
  • Able to work to deadlines
