I have an exciting opportunity to join my Nottingham based client company in a contract position as a Payroll Assistant to cover a period of maternity cover at their head office site. This is a great opportunity to join a successful company that supports the local community and is also proud to take the well-being of its staff seriously, in addition to ensuring they support the environment with many Eco-projects a foot.

About the Role:

The role offers an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who has payroll or strong administration/data processing and customer service experience to join a Payroll Team of 4 reporting to the Payroll Manager.

My client is highly flexible and able to consider both part time and full time applicants for their opportunity, and offers hybrid working, with up to 2 days working from home. They are also able to consider applicants without payroll experience, but with strong transferable skills in administration and customer service, who are computer literate and have a keen interest in Payroll processes.

As a Payroll Assistant you support the Payroll Team with a diverse range of payroll tasks, gaining experience in these processes and fine tuning this skill set. You will have a friendly supportive team to guide you on your journey in developing your new skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing the payroll for both hourly temporary staff and salaried employees.
  • Payroll calculations-SSP,SMP, holidays etc.
  • Payroll query resolution-internal and external.
  • Ensuring the payroll system information is correct.
  • Setting up new starters and processing leaver information onto the system.
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager with the improvement of management information.
  • General office admin duties.

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Payroll role or strong administration, customer service and data processing experience.
  • An understanding of payroll processes.
  • Ability to work self-directed.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills in payroll.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, ably to build internal relationships across the business at all levels.
  • The ability to work well independently as well as part of a team, with strong team player attitude.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Confident with basic Microsoft Excel tasks.
