The Global Emerging Markets and Global Financing and Credit Trading businesses sit within the Investment Bank division of the Bank. These business cover many forms of financing and lending including, inter alia , sovereign lending, securitisation, infrastructure and energy, transportation, commercial real estate, fund financing, direct lending, Islamic finance, strategic equity transactions, structured and complex derivatives and repos, as well as distressed products and flow derivative products.

You will be asked to assist across a number of these business lines, but will primarily focus on sovereign lending, fund financing, securitisation, commercial real estate and strategic equity transactions (e.g. margin lending). The role will involve the legal and regulatory risk management of new and existing transactions, many of which are international and complex.

Your key responsibilities

  • Providing robust legal advice to the Global Emerging Markets and Global Financing and Credit Trading businesses on all aspects of their transactions from structuring/design to completion and lifecycle events
  • Advise in relation to reputational risk
  • Advise in relation to regulatory change which may impact the business
  • Instruct and manage external counsel appropriately and cost effectively
  • Troubleshoot, by dealing with defaults, restructurings, disputes, and materialisation of legal and commercial risk.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of finance and other documentation

Your skills and experience

  • Qualified lawyer, with significant post-qualification experience (12+ years PQE)
  • A team player who is flexible and commercially minded
  • Willing to tackle new products and knowledgeable in relation to current regulatory regimes
  • A proficient and broad technical knowledge in banking and finance
  • Excellent communication skills
