Painting & Decorating Tutor

We are looking for a decorator, trades person or tutor with experience in the decorative industry. The teaching will predominantly be teaching spraying airless & HVLP and/or wallpapering courses but also venetian plaster and worktop refurbishment.. Someone who has the patience to teach a range of ages and abilities. Our students range from ages 16-60 and can have been in the trade for many years or new the industry. We are looking for both past teachers and/or decorators/trades people who know the industry well.

We are looking for both full time and part time applicants to apply. If part time then 1 weekend a month may be required.

Working hours:

Full time hours would be 8am-5pm Monday to Friday but may be flexible depending on courses.

Part time hours would be 8am-5pm depending on courses. Day can be flexible but we would need 2 or 3 days consecutively depending on courses covering.

Job description/role:

The information given below is intended to provide an outline of the responsibilities of the job and its role within PaintTech Training Academy. Minimum 5 years industry relevant experience is required, plus Level 3 award in Education & Training or willingness to study on a programme that will lead to this accreditation.

Main purpose of the job:

To teach relevant trade subject area and associated theory / practical skills on a variety of courses
To teach relevant trade subject area associated theory / practical skills across different learning levels
To support and promote the Academy's commitment to safeguarding.

Role outline & responsibilities:

These provide a guide to the major areas of responsibility. However, as the Academy's business changes and develops, the post holders role and responsibilities will vary and therefore the job description should be seen as a guide and not as a definitive statement.

To manage the student learning experience including assisting with the design and delivery of high quality teaching and learning to ensure students achieve their maximum potential together with learning outcomes.

To work with others in a supportive and co-operative manner and to work flexibly and with a high degree of professionalism and technical competence in discharging their duties and responsibilities.

Deliver Teaching, Learning and Assessment, and create a stimulating and energising learning environment:

Deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour/use a variety of classroom management techniques.

Incorporate health & safety of learners within the teaching and learning environment.

Assess the Outcome of Learning and Learners' Achievements and adopt appropriate strategies to assess learning and achievements:

Give feedback to learners to support and inform the learning process.Use a variety of methods to assess formatively and summatively, ensuring that learners understand the purpose of assessments, and that methods are appropriate.

Encourage learners to reflect on their own learning experiences and to monitor their own progress.

Check regularly that teaching/training is meeting learners' needs and that effective learning is taking place; modify session/lesson plans and teaching/training delivery accordingly.

Record, store and process assessments results to meet quality standards.Ensure that learners have access to impartial, comprehensive and current advice which meets learners' personal development as well as educational and vocational needs.

Attract and retain learners, and help them achieve learner competence, test and examination results.

Evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of own practice and help to raise the Standards of Teaching and Learning in the Academy. Continually engage in self reflection and review and identify own development needs:

Work with others to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of learning sessions

Review and monitor own performance, using a variety of means and indicators.

Identify own professional development needs and agree how these should be met.

Engage in continuous professional development.

Working as a team to build strong team relationships through collaboration and consultation:

Contribute to the creation of a supportive climate of co-operation.
