Reed Scientific is working with a market leading Aseptic Pharmaceutical company based in the North-West, who are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager. This is an additional headcount role, based on the success and growth of the business.

You will provide expertise and proactive guidance in matters relating environmental management and sustainability. Provide strategic direction to the organisation to promote, develop and establish a positive environmental and sustainability focus whilst ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.

This is a standalone role, with no direct reports. The successful applicant will report into the HRD and have a dotted line into Global ESG. You will be based on site 4 days per week, and have excellent stakeholder management skills, while being willing to challenge current practice.

The ideal candidate will come from either a similar pharmaceutical background, NHS clean room environment or perhaps even a Food Grade clean room environment.

Some of your main accountabilities will be as follows.

  • Support and constructively challenge leaders to continually improve environmental and sustainability management.
  • Set the strategy for the business to meet local and corporate goals.
  • Ensure reporting compliance is maintained as required for ESOS, SECR and Carbon Footprint.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO14001.
  • Review and update the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment submission annually and set objectives to attain continuous improvement and progress our maturity level.
  • Support the business in new tender submissions in line with NHS requirements defined in PPN06/21 and provide guidance in relation to environment and sustainability objectives.
  • Ensure that then business remain compliant from a legal, internal, and external audit perspective.
  • Champion and promote ‘doing the right thing' in respect of our environment.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders to support effective delivery of environment priorities and achieve practical and cost-effective compliance with all relevant legislation.

Ideally you will have either an environmental science and sustainability degree (or equivalent relevant certification).
