(Band: 5) £30,000 - £36,000

Responsible to: Finance Manager - Corporate Directorate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce timely, accurate financial reports in line with month and year-end deadlines.
  • Establish effective working relationships with budget holders to ensure understanding of financial issues.
  • Support budget setting, maintenance, and efficiency program reporting for a defined portfolio.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with service costings, cost-benefit analyses, and business case evaluations.
  • Provide financial management and advice across various budgets, addressing variances and errors.
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls and maintain the integrity of financial ledgers.
  • Support the development of business plans and capital investment reports, identifying funding sources.
  • Provide financial input for business cases, decision-making support, and training for non-finance staff.
  • Promote anti-fraud practices and maintain compliance with NHS finance policies and accounting standards.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • AAT Qualified or equivalent experience; evidence of CPD compliance.
  • Prior experience in finance within the NHS or a similar non-profit organization. Experience with financial systems and data analysis.
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, financial systems), excellent communication, problem-solving, and the ability to manage workload independently.
  • Proactive, attention to detail, logical, adaptable, and possess emotional intelligence.
  • Accepts responsibility, understands confidentiality, and is flexible and self-aware.
  • Weekly one-day work at Windsor Research Unit, Cambridge.
  • Regular supervision, mandatory training, and participation in the Trust's appraisal process.
  • Adherence to safeguarding, infection control, and incident reporting guidelines.
  • Commitment to eliminating discrimination and fostering good relations in accordance with Trust policies.
