Mental Health Nurse needed in Midlands

We need a passionate and experienced mental health nurse to work in a well-established team at a Trust in West Midlands.

Description:

Your role will be to act as the key nurse assessing and planning nursing care requirements on a one-to-one basis. You will be the patient advocate, supporting family members and carers to be as involved as required.

  • Work in accordance with SWFT Nursing Strategy and contribute to achieving SWFT strategic objectives.

  • Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker for a defined patient, taking responsibility for:

  • Protecting and supporting the health of an individual patient.

  • Assessing care and health education needs.

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating programs of care.

Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a mental health setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to restrain patients using approved techniques.
  • Handling and appropriately storing patient valuables.
  • Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals.
  • Ability to manage difficult situations.
  • Ability to cope with exposure to aggressive behavior.
  • Ability to plan own workload.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health presentations and appropriate interventions.
  • Understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Knowledge of risk management and how to plan care to account for risk.
