Teacher of Physical Education Location: York, North Yorkshire Start Date: September 2024 Salary: MPS/UPS; £30,000 - £46,525 per annum Contract Type: 0.5FTE – 1.0 FTE

GSL Education's North Yorkshire branch is looking to appoint an ambitious, energetic, and passionate Teacher of Physical Education to work at a Client Secondary School located approximately 15 miles north of York, North Yorkshire.

Teacher of Physical Education Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive physical education lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of secondary school students
  • Design and adapt PE curriculum plans that align with national standards and school objectives, ensuring a variety of sports and physical activities are included.
  • Assess student progress through observations, practical assessments, and written evaluations.
  • Provide feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
  • Encourage and promote the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among students.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment during PE lessons and activities.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and school staff to integrate physical education with other subjects and school activities

Teacher of Physical Education Requirements:

  • A recognised UK teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or Certificate in Education.
  • A relevant Sports based Degree, such as Sport and Exercise Science, Physical Education, or Sports Coaching.
  • Be able to provide references showing a proven track record of attainment.
  • Strong understanding of physical education curriculum requirements, sports coaching techniques, and fitness principles.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies, with the ability to follow school procedures and ensure student safety.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
