CNC Programmer

Seeking an experienced offline CNC Programmer to join a team based at a modern manufacturing company in South Nottingham. Ideally you have experience of working in a CNC manufacturing environment with good knowledge of programming machines with Mastercam or similar.

As an offline CNC Programmer you will join a small manufacturing support team and work alongside other departments to analyse manufacturing effectiveness and identify and recommend improvements to machinery operations, tool designs, production methods and machinery control to improve process capability. You will also liaise with engineers in other countries (mainly USA) on similar projects.

  • Hrs are approx. 8am – 4.30pm Mon to Thurs with 3.30pm finish on a Friday, but flexibility on start and finish times if required.

Key responsibilities of CNC Programmer:

  • Analyse and recommend improvements to present machinery operations, tool designs, production methods and machine control to improve process capability.
  • Identify and solve problems with cross functional groups to investigate Safety and Quality issues.
  • Support capital expense projects from quote to install.
  • Create documentation for the implementation of automated processes.
  • Lead initiatives to improve total preventative maintenance, ensuring critical equipment is understood and the risk of unplanned downtime is minimised.
  • Maintain awareness of customer and industry technical requirements.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications and skills required of CNC Programmer:

  • 3-6 years relevant CNC engineering experience
  • Experience and knowledge of CNC lathe machining
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and practical experience applying lean standards in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding and use of SPC and ability to analyse data
  • Knowledge of materials through experience or education
