SEN Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join a Secondary School setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs and ensuring inclusive practice within the education environment.

Working hours would be: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30AM-4PM

Salary: £24,702 - £26,873 per annum

Location: Stantonbury, Milton Keynes

Key Responsibilities Under the direction of the SENDCo:

1. To provide comprehensive administrative support to the SENDCo and the SEND team, acting as an effective link coordinating with outside agencies.

2. Work with the school community and external agencies to record and maintain accurate information and data relating to the SEND students.

3. To coordinate the administration / organisation of special exam arrangements for SEN students and full coordination with the exams assessment team.

4. Record and maintain the support strategies for targeted students and then implement the dissemination of information to school staff/outside agencies.

Job Description

Responsibility areas 1 and 2

- To provide comprehensive administrative support to the SENDCo and the SEND team, acting as an effective link coordinating with outside agencies.

1. Under the direction of the SENDCo to assist with coordinating the Learning Support Assistant timetable and deployment of the team. Highlight any absences within the team, resolve where possible any problems and communicate to the appropriate members of staff in a timely manner.

2. Assist the SENDCo with ensuring that the correct allocation of in-class support is in place for all SEND students in line with statutory requirements.

3. Under the direction of the SENDCo to assist with the review of student information with teaching staff in the preparation of Requests for Statutory Assessments (RSAs). Particularly diarising key dates to collect the data. Collate and prepare the data for the SENDCo in line with legal requirements/statutory policy and agreed deadlines.

4. Support the SEND staff with referrals and liaise with external agencies when required. 5. Attend meetings (including Child Protection / SEND Department / Multi-agency / student etc) to take the minutes, produce and distribute.

6. Provide administrative support as directed by senior SEND staff. This will include note taking at meetings and multi-professional meetings as requested, arranging meetings, diary-keeping, typing, maintenance of school data systems, telephone calls, creation and monitoring of ILF passes, photocopying, filing and general correspondence.

7. Order stationery, resources and raise purchase orders as directed by the SENDCO.

Responsibility area 3 and 4 - Under the direction of the SENDCo record and maintain the support strategies for targeted students and then implement the dissemination of information to school staff/outside agencies.

1. Assist with the review of the SEND profile, student records and the school's "One Page Profiles" to ensure they are updated regularly and distributed to appropriate staff, the data team, parents/carers and outside agencies to optimise student progress.

2. Assist with the support of Annual Review meetings for students with an Educational Health & Care Plan. This includes preparation of paperwork, organisation of meetings and completion of required documents. Collate and distribute in line with school and statutory policies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working within an Education Setting
  • Experience in working with children with special educational needs, including behaviour management and speech therapy
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with parents, external agencies, and colleagues
  • IT Proficient in MS Office and Google software
