Planning & Governance Manager (Contractor) – Inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Planning & Governance Manager to join our Turnaround Management Office (TMO) at Thames Water. This pivotal role is crucial in driving the successful delivery of our Turnaround Plan, which is key to restoring Thames Water to its industry-leading position. What you'll be doing as a Planning & Governance Manager.

As a Planning & Governance Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the coordination and governance of our turnaround initiatives. Your role will involve:

  • Establishing and maintaining the overall programme-level plan, including key dependencies.
  • Leading the 90-day planning cadence, setting challenging objectives, and tracking KPIs.
  • Developing and maintaining the turnaround reporting framework, including Executive and Board-level dashboards.
  • Creating and maintaining the TMO Handbook, guiding essential processes like Risk & Issue Management.
  • Advising and supporting TMO Business Partners and Initiative Leads on milestone progress and reporting.
  • Implementing and maintaining TMO tools, leveraging internal capabilities for data and reporting.

What you should bring to the role

  • Proven experience in business improvement projects or programmes.
  • Expertise in planning, risk management, and strategy execution.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint).

  • Location: Clearwater Court, Reading (Travel to other sites required, 2-3 days in the office per week)
