Job Title: Tyre Filler

Location: Stowmarket

Terms: Permanent – basic 40 hours per week (7.00am – 3.30pm) Overtime available

Salary: iro £26,187.20 p.a. depending on age an successful completion of probation.

Requirements: A self-motivated person with great organisational skills. Fork truck experience and some understanding of solid-fill manufacturing processes preferred. Some mechanical experience an advantage.

About Us:

Our client has historically been associated with the fabrication and fitting of bespoke agricultural wheels and tyre applications. The company is now diversifying and has established a solid-fill department which supplies industrial wheel and tyre assemblies to a major UK manufacturer and exporter. This side of the business has increased massively, increasing production over the FY24 period

About the Role:

Filling large industrial tyres/wheel assemblies with a polymer and rubber crumb compound to a pre-set standard. A potential exists to also fit industrial & agricultural tyres. The ideal candidate will be physically fit as the job requires some manual labour and working with heavy materials. The applicant needs to be able to work well in a small Team with varying daily targets. Needs to be organised, methodical and possess a clean/tidy mind-set with an eye for detail. During periods of restricted production, you will also be required to assist with some general maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure that area's that are shared with colleagues remain clean, tidy & fit for purpose.

Responsibilities:

  • Filling large industrial tyres to wheels under the supervision of a Team Leader/Supervisor.
  • To achieve/exceed daily targets as part of a Team. Targets are variable according to demand.
  • Ensure product is finished to a high standard.
  • The regular essential maintenance of equipment and machines (e.g. greasing & general maintenance) to reduce breakdowns and down-time due to machine failure.
  • Ensure that the workshop is tidy and maintained to a high standard.
  • To support colleagues in the tyre-fitting Team as and when required.
  • Promote a Health & Safety-conscious working environment, in line with Company Health & Safety procedures.
  • General yard maintenance to ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained and promotes the corporate image
  • Support a positive culture of continuous improvement within the Company.
  • Any further duties which may reasonably fall within the remit of your role as identified by the Managing Director.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A keen, positive and enthusiastic Team player with good common sense and a flexible approach to work.
  • Targets-driven with a mind-set to go above & beyond expectations.
  • Some experience of labour-intensive surroundings preferred but not essential.
  • Some knowledge of industrial tyres and wheels preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Some knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within an industrial setting preferred, but full training will be given.
  • Forklift licence an advantage
