Job Advert: Civil Enforcement Officer
Salary: £26,421 - £28,770 per annum pro rata (+ additional weekend enhancement)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, rolling 8-week rota, mixture of early and late shifts between 7am and 9:30pm, including weekend work with enhancement)

Join our parking enforcement team and help keep Central Bedfordshire's roads and car parks safe and efficient for everyone. Our Civil Enforcement Officers work to ensure free traffic movement and parking space rotation by educating the public and enforcing parking regulations. With full training provided, including a Level 2 Award for Parking Enforcement Officers, you'll be well-prepared to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce parking restrictions through the issue of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to vehicles in contravention.
  • Provide an efficient, effective service in line with the council's policies and objectives.
  • Educate residents, visitors, and businesses on parking regulations to maximise compliance.
  • Communicate confidently with the public, council members, and partners, representing the council in a positive and proactive manner.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full, clean driving licence (although a limited number of non-driving roles are available).
  • Standard DBS clearance (required as part of the recruitment process).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in conflict situations.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, in all weather conditions (uniform provided).
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures effectively.
