Posted by Wooden Books Ltd.

You will be based part-time at a small but well-established UK publishing house.
Visit www.woodenbooks.com to see our books.

You will work approximately one week a month, earning approximately £1000 for that week's work, less if we have to train you, possibly more if you are already familiar with book publishing and production.
You will initially need to be in the office one week a month, but this could fall as you become more familiar with the tasks.
Wooden Books is currently expanding quite fast, and your role could also expand.

The job will suit someone who wants flexibility in their work-life balance, a graduate who want to get into publishing but has other part time commitments, or a parent or semi-retired person who wants an interesting part-time job.

You will work closely with the Managing Director, performing the following tasks:

  • Book Production: Making small adjustments to InDesign files. Preparing books and jackets for press. Dealing with printers.
  • Book Data Management: Adding book data to Nielsens. Sending book data to international partners.
  • Marketing materials: Designing and sharing book marketing materials with distributors and reps.
  • Website managements: Updating website with new materials (no programming skills needed) and dealing with customer orders.
  • Social media updates: Design and posting.
  • Accounting: Assisting with royalty payments and sales data.

You will need the following skills:
Perfectionism (essential)
Perfect English (essential)
A good eye for design (essential)
Adobe Indesign (basic)
Adobe Photoshop (basic)
Back End Website skills (basic)
Spreadsheet (basic)
Email (basic)

If you don't already have them, we can help train many of these skills.
However, you will need to already be a technically-minded computer-literate individual.

Wooden Books is a tight team of 6 people, many working remotely most of the time.
This is a rare opportunity to join an exciting small company.
An excellent job for anyone wanting to get into book publishing.
