Building Surveyor

Cobalt Recruitment are working with an excellent Client-Side Residential-Led Landlord in South London to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor to provide a professional surveying service in relation to the portfolio of residential and commercial properties. This permanent opportunity is paying circa £50,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, plus a lucrative holiday scheme amongst it's company perks and benefits.

Key duties include (but are not limited to):

  • To liaise with Area Manager and the company's regional surveyors/engineers to ensure a proper programme for major works is implemented and maintained.
  • To assist the Area Manager and Management Surveyors in the smooth running and maintenance of the property portfolio.
  • To liaise with Regional Executive in the preparation of specifications for major repairs and re-decorations to properties.
  • To attend site meetings with consultants, contractors, etc, to discuss progress.
  • To ensure that proper procedures are followed when carrying out property repairs.
  • To liaise with tenants and leaseholders and attend meetings regarding proposed works/works in progress.
  • To oversee the performance of consultants and contractors and to monitor work in progress.
  • To prepare minor works schedules in relation to the building maintenance of all properties in the area portfolio.
  • To compile all necessary Notices to lessees advising them of proposed works in accordance with the provisions of the Landlord & Tenant Acts, and liaising with Residents' Associations and lessees on all matters relating to the progress of the works.
  • To ensure that appropriate action is taken following the receipt of any Housing Act Notices from local authorities.

You will have/be:

  • Suitably qualified Building Surveyor - professionally and/or through experience.
  • Fully conversant with requirements of Landlord & Tenant Acts, Housing Acts, Health & Safety Regulations, Building Regulations, etc.
  • Must be acceptable to people at all levels in the organisation.
  • Organised and able to work as part of a team but be prepared to take responsibility for own tasks.
  • A self-starter, able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
