Our client are a Test Consultancy based in Reading.
We are currently recruiting a Defect Manager on an initial 3 month contract, with potential to extend.
Specific Responsibilities
Lead the defect management of various test phases of the programme working with the Programme Test Manager and Test Leads
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, testing, business analysts) to identify defects during various stages of product development.
- Work closely with developers and testers to reproduce defects, analyze root causes, and propose effective solutions.
- Collaborate with business units to understand specific requirements related to mortgages and loans.
- Develop and implement defect prevention strategies to improve overall product quality.
- Define and refine the defect management process, securing the relevant approvals
- Triage defects, assign to the appropriate action owner and accelerate progress
- Responsible for ensuring defects are tracked and monitored regularly
- Communicate any risks and issues to the stakeholders regularly
- Produce regular progress reports against defects KPIs and making recommendations to the Test Manager and Programme Leads
- See defects through to closure, ensuring that each issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.
- Navigate ambiguity effectively by making informed decisions even when faced with incomplete information.
- Conduct root cause analysis and produce reports; implement mitigating actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Banking Experience, within mortgages and loansFive years+ experience in managing defects• Experience of managing functional, non-functional, and business acceptance defects
- Experience of identifying cross-priorities between defects from various test phases
- Experience of working in V-model and agile methodologies
- Knowledge/experience of using defect management tools such as JIRA, TFS, Azure Devops; Devops experience is an added advantage.
- Experience on defining and implementing defect management strategies, including defining
severity and priority levels
- Ability to multi-task and handle numerous projects and tasks concurrently
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to present complex ideas in simple terms
customised to target audience
