After School Club Manager

Our client is looking for a fun, friendly and professional Manager.

They provide a high-quality after school provision for children aged 4-11 that attend Wardie Primary School. We also provide holiday camps for the February, Easter and Summer holidays.

They have a fantastic reputation and have excellent relationships with local Primary School's, the teaching teams we work with, the families who we support with this provision, the team who we support fully in their roles, and most importantly... the children in their care!

Requirements of the After School Manager:

The role of the After School Club Manager is to deliver a high-quality childcare service. This requires the management and support of the Club team, resources, and processes to ensure the smooth running of the club and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Job requirements:

Hours: 28 hrs per week (extended during holiday provision) Monday to Friday
22.5 hrs in the Club and 5.5 for admin

Salary: £18.25 per hour

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents/carers.
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
  • Providing support and supervision to play workers and other staff, including volunteers.
  • Holding regular staff meetings and conducting regular reviews and appraisals for staff
  • Administration and record keeping, including staff and child records, financial records, ordering and purchasing and working within an agreed budget.
  • Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the club, with schools, and especially with parents.
  • Undertake appropriate and relevant training
  • Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment.
  • Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures, and in-line with the Care Inspectorate and SSSC.

Essential requirements:

  • Appropriate Level 4 qualification and have or be willing to work towards a BA in Childhood Practice or equivalent
  • Existing SSSC registration and willingness to register at Manager level with the SSSC
  • Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
  • Experience of administration and budgeting
  • Experience of working in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Delivering equal opportunities in a play setting
  • Understanding the varied needs of children and families
  • Providing and facilitating safe, stimulating play
  • Excellent communication skills together with sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children
  • Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense
  • Familiarity with the Quality Framework for daycare of children, childminding and school aged childcare
  • Appropriate child protection training
  • Ability to use IT based resources to support play and club administration
  • Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate

The successful candidate will also be subject to a PVG check.
