UK Servicing and technical support takes place at our purpose-built facility on the outskirts of Sheffield, operating out of the UK manufacturing site for another Verder Scientific company, Carbolite Gero Ltd.

A vacancy exists for a: - In-House Service Engineer/Technical Support Advisor

Due to the continued success and growth of the business, we are delighted to be recruiting for an in-house service Engineer/Technical Support Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is in the early stages of their career, has recently finished a relatable Electronics or Electrical qualification with excellent computer/administration skills. The position would suit a college leaver or electrical improver.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a desire to learn and develop with a natural passion for Electromechanical systems. Following training, duties will include fault finding, calibration and repair of RETSCH - Laboratory Mills, Crushers and Sieve Shakers equipment. As they take on more responsibilities, there may be progress to a more Senior role, with the option to also work performing on-site customer repairs and calibrations.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead administrator/first point of service contact (Phone/E-mail).
  • Generating quotes for work in progress.
  • Liaising with Clients, the Service Manager and Office Administrators to ensure customers are contacted and quoted in a timely and friendly manner. (Database management).
  • Fault finding and diagnostics (faults fixed + tested functional every time).
  • Repair of mechanical systems (hand tools, knowledge of bearing removal/installation tools).
  • Replacing circuit boards (plug and play).
  • Writing service reports PDF or Word for customers understanding.
  • Maintaining accurate stock keeping ensuring parts used are booked off, and replenished parts are correctly allocated.
  • There will be some off-site work as and when required, in attendance with the VS Service Engineer.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Electronic Technician qualification or Electrical Engineering (Level 3)
  • Electrotechnical installation and maintenance (Level 3).
  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • A desire to see matters through to a successful conclusion, realising customer satisfaction.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Excellent computer/administration skills.
  • Logical thinking skills - Ability to read service manuals, Training videos and fault codes to identify faults.
  • Communication skills - Must be able to discuss fault information and follow verbal repair instructions where required.
  • Detail oriented - A desire to see matters through to a successful conclusion, realising customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work autonomously - After initial training the Service Manager will provide technical support via phone or email when out of the office or on-site visits.
  • Mechanical Fault finding - Ability to identify loose or binding components by sight, sound or touch.
