Due to continued success, Bells of Lazonby have a Process Technologist Trainee vacancy within their New Product Development (NPD)team. You will act as the link between our development kitchen and the production line.

Location: Lazonby, Cumbria (CA10 1BG)

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum

We supply all major UK retailers with ambient Free From ranges and a number of leading Coffee Shop Chains with ambient and frozen ranges. We operate two bakeries: A conventional Bakery and a dedicated Gluten, Wheat and Milk Free Bakery avoiding 12 out of the 14 notable allergens.

Process Technologist Trainee – The Role:

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transition between product testing trials and bakery production. You will learn how to carry out different trials on approved new products that have been developed in the test kitchen by our NPD Concept team.

Process Technologist Trainee – Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce trials in both on-site factories and record data gathered
  • For each trailing stage; establish process methods, document recipe changes, and communicate to relevant business areas
  • Before production check final recipes/methods in TROPOS and on production paperwork
  • Collect and evaluate data used to develop packaging, QAS, line standards
  • Finalise information needed for Technical Team to complete customer specifications
  • Ensure work meets in-house and customer standards for quality and safety
  • Liaise with purchasing colleagues to ensure that all incoming stock for initial trials is in place
  • In time, you will supervise first productions for all projects allocated to yourself and to act as troubleshooter to resolve issues with existing products

Process Technologist Trainee – You:

  • Qualification in a food related discipline such as NPD, Bakery or Food Science preferred
  • Good IT Skills, particularly with Microsoft Office
  • Meets targets and deadlines
  • Assimilate new information well
  • Hardworking, Adaptable, Practical person
  • Inquisitive, creative, and always looking for ways to improve
  • Strong communication skills, open to engaging with different business areas
  • Capable of building positive relationships with managers, colleagues, and representatives
  • Flexibility with working hours may be required to fit in with trial timings
