Shifts: 06:00 - 17:20, 4 on 4 off (Flexibility to work nights when required with enhancement)

Hourly Rate: Days - £19.68 PAYE / £25.00 Umbrella

Nights - £26.17 PAYE / £33.46 Umbrella

Saturday - £29.52 PAYE /£37.83 Umbrella (All hours)

Sunday - £39.36 PAYE / £50.65 Umbrella (All hours)

Hours per week: 42 hours Avg.

Europe's largest Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service and maintenance provider. This prestigious company is also the largest rolling stock manufacturer and provider in the UK is looking Experience Engineers to join a well established team at a busy rail depot in East London.

Position Summary:

  • Operation and Maintenance of Wheel lathe including fault finding.
  • Undertake post tyre turning activities.
  • Assist external technicians as required.
  • Ensure that unresolved problems with processes, tooling, and documentation and Lathe performance are promptly reported to co-ordinator.
  • Carry out work in an efficient safe manner providing a Quality product meeting customer, company and legislative standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe and accident free environment.
  • Maintain and improve working environment in line with housekeeping, 5s policies, TPM policies and continuous improvement plans.
  • Maintain appropriate departmental records and documentation.
  • Apply and Maintain LEAN initiatives

Person Profile:

You will be a highly self-motivated individual as training to develop will be given to these individuals. Attitude and enthusiasm is key for this role you should be able to follow detailed instructions as an eye for details is key to this role. Following on the job competency based training you will be able to work under your own initiative. The Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Turner/Machine operator experience
  • Knowledge of vehicle overhauls and repair activities.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Ability to meet targets

Ideal applicants would have had some Wheel lathe or CNC Turning/Milling experience on metallic materials. Also due to the nature of the programme candidates must be able to work days & nights which will include working at the weekend.
