**SEND Casework Officer

THIS ROLE IS NOT REMOTE

Warrington Borough Council are seeking a diligent and meticulous SEND Casework Officer to support professionals to review, monitor and assess the education, health and care needs of children and young people with SEND. The successful candidate will work closely with key stakeholders (families, young people, schools and professionals) and report directly to one of the SEND team managers.

**Job Responsibilities

  • Lead on annual reviews of EHC Plans and deal with any issues that arise related to the provision or support needed for the child/young person
  • Identify additional resources, funding or support (including from other services within and outside of the local authority) and provision/placement changes
  • Oversee any activities that are required to assess needs and develop a plan to meet any outcomes specified as part of the EHC Plan
  • Ensure that the EHC Plan is focused on the future needs of the child/young person to help them towards a successful adulthood
  • Work in partnership with the child/young person and their parents/carers to help them to plan towards adult life and promote independence, choice and control over all aspects of their life
  • Co-ordinate and attend meetings, such as introductory visits to families, mediation meetings and person centred planning meetings
  • Provide information and support around the Local Offer and stay up to date with this

**Job Requirements

  • Current knowledge and understanding of legislation and statutory duties in relation to education, and specifically special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Experience of working with senior staff in schools and partner agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal with the ability to clearly communicate at different levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in often stressful circumstances and respond effectively to both predictable and unpredictable deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to work, some work outside of normal office hours may be required
  • Enhanced DBS
