Position: Business Analyst - Warehouse & Transportation

Location: Birmingham
Reports to: Head of Programme Operational Delivery

Type: Full-time

Overview:

We are seeking anexperiencedBusiness Analyst with expertise in implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, specialising in Warehouse and Transportation Managementas part of a business wide ERP replacement programme. The ideal candidate will drive system improvements, streamline supply chain processes, and provide critical insights to optimise both warehouse operations and transportation logistics. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, deliver solutions, and ensure the efficient use of Microsoft Business Central's capabilities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities: Business Process Analysis:

  • Analyse and document current warehouse and transportation processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose new ways of working leveraging Microsoft Business Central.
  • Conduct GAP analysis and recommend enhancements to optimize warehouse space utilization, stock control, picking, packing, and shipment processes.
  • Facilitate cross functional workshops to capture and prioritise low level requirements with senior stakeholders

Microsoft Business Central Implementation:

  • Lead the implementation of Microsoft Business Central's Warehouse

Management (WMS) and integration into existing Transportation Management

systems.

  • Support the implementation of Microsoft Business Central's financial and

inventory management modules, and identifying key dependencies with

supply chain processes

  • Configure Business Central to support business requirements related to

inventory management, order processing, shipping, and transportation

scheduling.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Develop and manage reports and dashboards in Business Central to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, delivery timelines, transportation costs, and warehouse efficiency.

  • Provide data-driven insights to assist in decision-making and improve supply chain operations.

  • Support technical workshops to define NFRs, data migration and SD&T activities

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including warehouse managers, logistics

teams, IT, and external vendors to gather business requirements, define project
scope, and ensure successful delivery of solutions.

  • Act as the liaison between technical teams and business units, ensuring

alignment of technology with business needs.

  • Identify and support resolution of project risks/issues and dependencies

System Optimization & Support:

  • Continuously monitor and optimize Business Central workflows to improve

warehouse and transportation efficiency.

  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for warehouse and transportation

modules, ensuring system stability and addressing issues in a timely manner.
Training & Documentation:

  • Prepare and deliver user training sessions, ensuring that warehouse and

transportation teams are proficient in using Business Central's features.

  • Document system configurations, business processes, and workflows to

ensure smooth system operations and continuity.

  • Support testing teams to ensure test scripts provide coverage of E2E warehouse

and transportation processes
Key Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience, with a minimum of 3 years in

warehouse management or distribution ERP implementations.

  • 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

or a similar ERP system, focusing on warehouse and distribution

  • Experience in implementing and configuring Business Central for supply chain

or logistics environments.

  • Experience with third-party integrations such as warehouse management

systems (WMS), transport management systems (TMS), or HHTs
Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, especially

warehouse and transportation functionalities.

  • Experience of integrating Transport routing systems such as Paragon with MS

BC.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, such as Power BI, Excel, or SQL.
  • Experience with EDI integrations and third-party logistics (3PL) systems is a

plus.

  • Nice to have but not essential would be experience of integration with cutting tables or something similar
  • Experience of basic production and automation within the WMS environment?

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with

cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel to warehouse locations as required for implementation, training, and support.

Key Competencies:
Business Acumen: Understanding of warehouse operations, transportation logistics, and E2E supply chain management.

System Configuration: Ability to configure and optimise Microsoft Business Central to meet specific warehouse and transportation needs.

Requirements Management: Experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of requirements for system implementations, from requirement gathering to post- implementation support.

Continuous Improvement: Passion for identifying opportunities for process improvements and leveraging technology to achieve business goals.
