Job Description - Deputy Manger

Please note - There may be some weekend and evening working as part of this role.

(This role attracts an element of unsociable hours enhancements which are paid as and when required)

Responsible to: General Manger

Responsible for: Care Coordinator, Care Workers, the Office

Main Duties:

  • Supporting the general manager in the daily management & running of the agency. Managing, delivering & leading high-quality care as part of the care team using a person-centred approach
  • To ensure that the individual needs of all clients are met in a timely manner and ensuing that the quality of care are outstanding to all clients
  • To actively assist, maintain and promote Nursing Care Personnel Care values
  • Being able to work on a rolling shift pattern, including applying a flexible attitude to working hours especially in regard to covering absence and holidays, including bank holidays, evenings, and weekends
  • To liaise with the council, CCGs, private clients regarding accepting of new packages of care, referrals etc.
  • To display a caring, sensitive, and approachable nature
  • To display compassion, patience, and empathy in all tasks
  • To support the general manager with all planning and executions, all ongoing assessments, and supervisions of all care staffs
  • To manage and supervise the preparations of all care plans, reviewing and assessing on a six (6) months basis
  • To prepare and contribute to all reports, reviews, and assessments. Ensuring that all audits are completed each month in order to enhance the quality of care/services all complying with the company policy
  • To assess performance and encourage development of all care staff through the use of appraisals
  • To coordinate and run staff meetings to deliver information, maintain and promote best practice and set standards for care
  • To promote company initiatives and manage delivery within the service provision, ensuring that all staff are working to company policies and procedures and to take appropriate action to ensure that standards are reached and maintained
  • To assist the general manager with the day-to-day management of all care staff which includes disciplinary, performance management, absence and sickness policies and procedures
  • To build, maintain and promote good relationships with the carers and the client and their family, displaying good communication and listening skills ensuring they are being provided with the best quality of care
  • To take responsibility for ordering all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the office and making sure they are stored in the right place
  • To make sure that all care staffs have the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times whilst on duty
  • To ensure records are maintained and updated accordingly for all care staff and clients
  • To support the general manager with recruitment and interviews ensuring that it's in alignment with the company policy
  • To make sure that all CQC requirements are met
  • To act as a role model to the care team
  • To promptly report any information, issues or concerns regarding the care, support, wellbeing or behaviour of clients or their family and that of care staff to the general Manager
  • Understand & apply the principles of confidentiality at all times

  • Ensure that client's confidentiality & dignity is maintained at all times, ensuring information is not shared or divulged with anyone not authorized to receive it to work in accordance with Nursing Care Personnel's Code of Practice and policies

  • RGN or RMN qualification is desirable but not essential
