SES Water is a local water company dedicated to providing high-quality water and exceptional service to our customers. Over the past two years, we've developed bespoke site Biodiversity Management Plans in partnership with Surrey Wildlife Trust. These plans are designed to enhance organic habitats sustainably and encourage native species through installing bird and invertebrate boxes. We continue to lead the way in the UK water industry with our land management practices; we are the only water company to hold the prestigious Biodiversity Benchmark award at not just one, but three of our sites.

We are looking for an Outside Maintenance Operative to join our team at Kenley. You'll be maintaining the grounds, cleaning tanks and buildings, carrying out basic mechanical work and general labouring, all the while upholding our values of Service, Commitment, Innovation, Compassion, Collaboration and Integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintain our award-winning sites using the provided equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Skillfully operate large grounds care equipment, including agricultural tractors and loaders.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance checks on equipment and report any defects to ensure smooth operations.
  • Fencing Work: Repair and erect fences to secure our premises and protect our diverse ecosystems.
  • Tank Cleaning: Clean and sterilize all types of tanks and reservoirs as necessary.
  • Temporary Pumping: Set up, operate, and dismantle temporary pumping plants.
  • Tree Surgery: Carry out basic tree surgery tasks such as removing limbs and cutting up fallen trees
  • Material Handling: Assist in loading and off-loading deliveries of materials.

What We're Looking For:

  • Educational Background: GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths . A full driving license is essential.
  • Experience: Ideally you will have experience as a general labourer, or similar.
  • Skills: You'll have basic IT/computer skills, and it would be an advantage if you have experience of chainsaw/mechanical plant/forklift/trailer towing.
  • Personal Qualities: Able to work on your own and within a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor Environment: Enjoy the great outdoors as you work primarily outside or within tanks and vessels.
  • Physical Activity: This role involves moderate effort most of the time, with occasional heavy lifting.
  • Fitness Requirement: Climbing ladders and stairs, and wearing breathing apparatus, when necessary, requires a good level of physical fitness.
  • Health & Safety: To ensure safety in confined spaces and while using breathing apparatus, you will need to pass a medical examination.
