Locum Information Governance Officer with a Local Authority in the Midlands
Working arrangement: Remote working
Contract Type: Full-time (part-time applicants considered)
Hourly Rate: Dependent on experience
Contract Length: Initial 3-month contract, with likelihood of extension
Start Date: As soon as possible (reasonable notice will be considered)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Information Governance Officer to join a Local Authority on a remote basis. This is a critical role in ensuring the council adheres to best practices in data protection and information governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and responding to FOI (Freedom of Information) requests and Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  • Overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and providing advice on compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Offering general guidance and support on information governance issues across the council's departments.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure data handling processes meet legal and regulatory standards.

About You:

  • Experience in information governance and data protection within the public sector, ideally within a local authority context.
  • Knowledge of FOI, GDPR, SARs, and DPIA processes.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
  • Available to start ASAP or within a reasonable notice period.
