Situated in Widnes, I am currently hiring an experienced Transport Planner to join a large organisation specializing in Road Haulage into the renewables sector across the UK.

They are in search of a skilled Transport Planner to enhance the existing transport operation, playing a key role in supporting the logistics function and providing customers with a seamless end-to-end solution for their transport needs.

The Candidate;

  • Transport Planning experience for HGVs is essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Solid understanding of Working Time Directive and driver regulations.
  • Good geographical knowledge.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external colleagues.
  • Previous experience in transport planning or operations.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Daily Planning: Maintain the current daily transport plan while effectively organizing the next day's workload.
  • Driver Communication: Engage in strong and consistent communication with drivers on a daily basis.
  • Work Allocation: Assign tasks to drivers in compliance with the Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with various departments throughout the day to address issues and fulfill requirements.
  • Monitoring and Tracking: Oversee vehicle progress using the Mandata tracking system and identify opportunities to reduce empty runs by efficiently allocating work routes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize available reports to identify and address performance issues promptly.
  • Responsive Communication: Manage emails and media communications promptly and effectively throughout the day.
  • Team Meetings: Participate in team meetings to discuss daily progress and plan ahead.
  • Adaptive Planning: Adjust and replan schedules as needed to accommodate changing circumstances.
  • Issue Reporting: Report any significant issues to the planning manager in a timely manner.
