Transport Controller

Your new role
The Transport Controller is required to deliver an optimum national and international transport solution which is cost effective and supports a department of growth strategy and Company targets. As well as ensuring timely, complete and legally compliant deliveries on a daily basis, you will have responsibility for improvements in performance and longer-term transport planning, taking a lead in areas of planning and improvement initiatives for transportation. From analysis of requirements, identify transport solutions and improvement opportunities. Continuously review and report the Company's transport performance to ensure maximum commercial viability. Responsible for all UK transport; negotiating transport contracts and integrating operating systems. This includes monitoring, reporting of expenditure, reviewing and reporting service levels. Set-up, implement and monitor systems to ensure compliance with HMRC and transport authorities' regulations. Review to ensure company processes and procedures comply with HMRC reporting and control of various regimes. Responsibility for implementing and monitoring preparation of Certificates of Origin and other required statutory documents, including Letters of Credit.

What you'll need to succeed Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to comply with HMRC and transport authority requirements. Team player: Demonstrate team working by contributing to team KPI's results. Communicate and demonstrate a positive attitude in line with employee behavioural charter. Actively contribute to ways to improve or optimise work performance. Work independently and demonstrate self-motivation with competent IT skills . Current working knowledge of transport legislation (Logistics, Transport, Supply Chain Management, or similar qualifications). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and customer liaison at all levels. Commercial awareness, budget responsibility and accountability, understanding and application. Experience of cost control and working within budget. Previous experience of transport management, planning and scheduling.

What you'll get in return
This position is Monday - Friday and 12.30pm on a Friday. A salary of up to £31,000 plus a non-contractual bonus. 3 x life assurance plus an attendance bonus. They also have free on-site parking and have a Xmas shut down.
