We are seeking an experienced Arboriculture Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all aspects of arboriculture, horticulture, and landscaping within the College's grounds, as well as providing instruction to students on Arboriculture courses.

Day-to-day of the role of a Arboriculture Instructor:

  • Care and maintenance of arboriculture plant, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintain high standards within the College woodlands, farm, and arboretum of tree works.
  • Support horticulture and landscaping tasks as required.
  • Resource timber using tractors and timber trailers, produce firewood, charcoal, and timber products.
  • Provide demonstrations and technical instruction to students undertaking practical arboriculture work from Entry Level to Level 3.
  • Carry out practical assessments of students in line with awarding body requirements, completing all necessary records.
  • Supervise and allocate tasks to College students carrying out practical duties.
  • Complete records relating to Arboriculture including risk assessments.
  • Ensure the security of machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Organise and maintain equipment for practical sessions, ensuring safety and best standards.
  • Maintain monitoring systems for tools loaned to students, ensuring their safe return.
  • Deliver lessons safely, maintaining the health and safety of students and staff.
  • Locate new work sites for practical sessions with the support of the Team Leader.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required by the Line Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications for the role of Arboriculture Instructor:

  • Recognised Arboriculture qualification.
  • Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
  • Certificates in Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross Cutting, Felling, Tree Climbing, Ariel Rescue, Aerial Cutting, Wood Chipper and Brush-Cutters use, Basic Tree Inspection, and Safe use of pesticides.
  • Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Experience as a fully qualified grounds person within the arboriculture industry.
  • Competent climbing skills with significant experience.
  • Experience working safely at heights and with a range of arboriculture equipment.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships, effective communication, and organisational skills.
  • A focus on safe working practices and a passion for high-quality tree care.
  • Driving licence
