We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and driven individual to join our Financial Accounting and Reporting team as a Senior Finance Assistant. The team ensure all monthly reporting into the centralised group function is accurate and timely, lead the external audit process to appropriate sign-off (interim and year end), complete the statutory accounts in accordance with international accounting standards and maintain and review the integrity of the balance sheet.

As Senior Finance Assistant you will be responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts for smaller trading and dormant entities, liaising with a number of key individuals in group finance t agree/obtain key information and liaising with and preparing detailed information for external auditors. In addition you will also be responsible for:

  • Preparing key schedules used in preparation of main statutory accounts.
  • Communicating when required with many key stakeholders within the UK business to ensure all aspects of the accounts are complete
  • Continuously reviewing processes ensuring they are as efficient as possible
  • Analysing and interpreting large data sets from multiple sources in differing formats
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the management and training of junior colleagues on specific activities such as balance sheet reporting and providing constructive feedback for them to action.
  • Preparing a number of central balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis and present findings in review meetings.
  • Arranging and attending all central balance sheet review meetings and maintain tracker of findings.
  • Providing assistance to other areas of the team during busy periods.
  • Ensuring payroll returns and liabilities are filed/paid on time each month
  • Preparing ad-hoc reports analysis for internal and external stakeholders
  • Keeping up to date with current changes to international accounting standards to ensure accurate reporting within key financial statements and assist Finance Manager in providing technical support to sector colleagues on a wide range of accounting matters.

The successful Senior Finance Assistant will:

  • Be studying towards ACA, CIMA, ACCA (or equivalent)
  • Highly numerical and analytical
  • Able to communicate oral and written information concisely and logically
  • Able to analyse and evaluate information
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence internal and external parties
  • Effectively plan and organise own work
  • Take on a broad spectrum of work under pressure and to deliver in agreed timescales
  • Remain up to date on current and planned changes to international accounting standards
  • Be Experienced in SAP/Cognos experience (desirable)
