Financial Controller

This technology services business works with a diverse range of customers from SME's to global corporations. From humble beginnings they have expanded steadily by providing bespoke solutions and best in class customer service. Led by an entrepreneurial MD they have exciting developments planned for the next few years and would like to recruit a Financial Controller to play a pivotal role during this period of change and growth.

The Financial Controller will be an instrumental part of the leadership team, contributing to the financial strategy of the business. As they continue to expand you will be integral in the development of internal control policies and procedures within the company. You will have responsibility for financial risk management and will be expected to work closely with other senior leadership to develop risk mitigation plans. You will also contribute to ensuring that financial systems and controls are fit for purpose, are appropriately maintained and will help identify areas for improvement.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and presentation of monthly management accounts.
  • Assisting in the development of robust budgeting and forecasting models, reporting on any variances.
  • Ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported.
  • Overseeing the Payroll process, submission of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Managing the year end statutory accounts process and liaising with external accountants as required.
  • Cashflow management including monitoring and forecasting.
  • Streamlining and improving accounting systems and operations.
  • Developing, evolving and implementing new financial processes as required.
  • Mentoring and developing the finance function

The role will involve reporting to senior management and key stakeholders, providing a financial perspective in customer and supplier meetings and supporting the sales teams with timely and intuitive data and KPI's. A key part of the role will involve cashflow management and planning to support the growth agenda and contribute to the company financial strategy and decision making processes. As part of a small office set up you should be able to collaborate effectively with other departments and work on ad hoc projects defined by the MD to ensure business strategy is aligned with financial operations.

Suitable candidates for this role must be commercially focused with the charisma to influence at all levels, and the drive and ambition to thrive in a fast moving environment. You must be professionally qualified to CIMA / ACCA or ACA level with previous experience at a senior level within the finance function of the business and strong IT / technology knowledge. The role would be suitable for someone looking for a part time (circa 30 hours) basis and can offer a degree of ad hoc flexibility if required.
