Senior Internal Communications Manager

We are recruiting for a Senior Internal Communications Manager on an interim contract until the of 2024.

You'll work as part of the People Team whose objective is to develop and implement the people, organisation and community and stakeholder engagement strategy by:

  • Attracting, developing and retaining people by providing opportunity and building a great place to work.
  • Building and leading the development of a highly skilled, diverse and engaged workforce for the industry.
  • Ensuring readiness to deliver through an effective client organisation, with the right capabilities and operating model

As a Senior Internal Communications Manager, you will need to have/be:

  • The ability to plan, execute and complete projects on time and to required quality standards
  • The ability to develop and deliver engaging internal communications messaging, aligned with strategic business objectives across a range of communications channels
  • The ability to produce and present information to a variety of stakeholders and to engage and respond to queries and requests in a way that fosters collaboration
  • The ability to influence and negotiate with internal stakeholders
  • Ability to grasp, understand and promote complex and sensitive issues in a persuasive way to different audience groups
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and rapidly changing circumstances
  • Knowledge of the development, delivery and measurement of best practice internal communications and its role in enhancing business performance
  • Working knowledge of new and emerging internal communications tools, techniques and channels as well as evaluation techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of best practice employee engagement processes, including change management practices, tools and techniques
  • Internal and corporate crisis communications planning and activation scenarios
  • Project management tools and the application of them within corporate communications
  • Understanding of how to promote complex and sensitive issues in a persuasive way to different audiences
  • Knowledge of public affairs, media relations, corporate communications, community engagement, social media and campaigns
  • Developing and delivering comprehensive, evidence-based internal communications strategies and plans aligned with wider business objectives

Ideally, you'll have experience of:

  • Working on large-scale transformation programmes and using change impact analysis to inform appropriate communication approach
  • Providing counsel on internal corporate communications to Executives and senior leaders across large, complex, fast-paced matrix organisations
  • Development, delivery, and measurement of internal communications and resources planning, defining the processes and structures required to achieve success
  • Delivering to agreed deadlines in a fast-changing environment
  • Internal engagement in crisis and/or major incident communications
  • Experience of designing and writing content for a range of channels

Details:

  • Rate: £650.00 per day (inside IR35)
  • Working Hours: Full time Monday - Friday (hybrid 2 days office based per week)
  • Location: Birmingham
  • Duration: until 31st December 2024

Role of Senior Internal Communications Manager:

  • Support the delivery of internal communications to inform and engage employees on business priorities and key milestones in delivering
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their goals and deliver appropriate strategies and plans which ensure the right message gets to the right audience, at the right time; evaluating deliverables and performance to ensure a constant cycle of learning and improvement
  • Work with the Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Manager to refresh and deliver an internal communications strategy and approach for which the narrative will form the basis of core content in our internal communications
  • Build relationships across the organisation and gain buy-in, support and sign-off on key internal communications activity and any campaigns from the relevant Exec / Senior Leadership sponsor
  • Produce and publish internal communications content across channels as required, ensuring content is accessible, consistent and aligned to strategic business priorities and corporate KPIs
