Sustainability & Emissions Officer - Hybrid Role

Demon Recruitment Group are working with a leading company with offices around the globe, who are seeking an experienced Sustainability & Emissions Officer.

The company may consider a passionate graduate with the relevant degree and some work experience within this field

The company have put a lot of focus on its sustainability including emissions, tree planting project, renewable energy etc. The company is looking for someone who can take this role on and lead the company's sustainability to another level.

Job Description & Role

Your job will consist of many aspects, all of which fall under the scope of ESG. You will lead the company to another level through implementing change, analysing carbon emissions as the start of our ESG development and group policy roll out, evaluating policies and much more. You will be expected to be a part of management meetings and some client meetings to discuss the business's sustainability initiatives and updates.

Your role is a new role within the company and previously was completed by the marketing department, so you will have support from the Marketing team. In your role it is essential for you to liaise with many people in different roles and departments as well as some external people from our worldwide partners.

_Your general tasks include: _

  • Defining the ESG policies under the guidance of the management team
  • Formulating a ESG policy and an execution plan for the group
  • Introduce a road map of carbon footprint mapping for the group countries.
  • Influence a cultural change in the organisation on adopting true ESG policies and avoid green washing.
  • Calculating Carbon Emissions for each business unit and reporting of carbon emissions at parcel level
  • Calculating The company's Carbon Footprint for UK /Germany/South Africa/ Australia/ Hong Kong and any other group country.

Liaise with our IT developers to implement the carbon calculation tools decided by the management (Ecotransit and Reff Tool)

  • Make use of the carbon reporting from the implemented tools and make the data available in powerbi reporting for each country/ client and product
  • Selecting and encouraging the suppliers to produce carbon emission reporting
  • Defining sustainability measures to be implemented in the group which also covers CSR
  • Researching the carbon credits to be offered to clients and for the company to neutralise the carbon emissions
  • Organising an ESG group within the group countries and develop programs to be implemented in all countries.
  • Implement an ESG monthly broadcast via internal and external media channels
  • Represent the company in internal and external forums to present the company's ESG road map
  • Produce Quarterly ESG report to the internal and external stakeholders and clients
  • Take the lead on ESG roll out and provide guidance to the company global network and make carbon calculation tools available to other network partners at a cost.

Requirements

  • Degree in a related discipline
  • Advance skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Good communication within the organisation
  • Awareness and interest in climate change and Net Zero strategies
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meeting critical deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Analytical skills
  • Very good written and verbal skills
  • Ability to present information in meetings internally and with customers
  • Previous experience calculating carbon emissions and supporting and implementing sustainability initiatives
  • Experience of carbon footprint calculations including all scopes
  • Experience of environmental and/or carbon footprint data verification

Desirable

  • Experience with carbon emission reporting and ESG work
  • Previous experience working within a distribution company

Work Hours

FULL TIME-Monday - Friday 5 days per week (1-hour lunch break)
