Senior Planner

My client are a main contractor in the construction industry and has a strategy to significantly grow in the next 3 years. The business has successfully secured a significant amount and of contracts and the growth is on target. Due to this growth there is now a requirement for a Project Planner.

The Project Planner will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining project schedules using Asta Powerproject to support the successful delivery of large, multistorey building projects. They will work closely with various departments, ensuring constraints are identified early and solutions are devised to maintain project timelines and budgetary control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop detailed project plans and schedules using Asta Powerproject for all construction phases.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to provide realistic timelines for project bids and tenders.
  • Regularly update and maintain project schedules throughout the lifecycle of each project.

Coordination & Communication:

  • Liaise with various departments, including design, contracts, and site teams, to ensure schedules are aligned with project needs.
  • Identify potential constraints and issues early, providing solutions to mitigate delays.
  • Ensure all project stakeholders are aware of critical milestones and deadlines.

Progress Monitoring:

  • Track project progress, comparing actual performance to scheduled milestones.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs), for management and clients.
  • Identify any slippage in project timelines and recommend recovery actions.

Risk & Constraint Management:

  • Analyse project risks, constraints, and dependencies, making them visible early in the project.
  • Propose solutions and recovery plans to keep the project on track.

Project Control:

  • Assist the Contracts Department in maintaining cost and resource allocation visibility within the project schedules.
  • Monitor project scope and manage any changes to scope, ensuring they are reflected in the schedule.

Resource Management:

  • Coordinate with the construction team to ensure proper resource allocation (labour, materials, and plant) based on the project schedule.
  • Ensure that resource requirements are identified and addressed in a timely manner.

Software Proficiency:

  • Utilize Asta Powerproject software effectively to create and manage complex schedules, including critical path analysis.
  • Maintain proficiency with any updates or new functionalities of Asta Powerproject.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Ensure timely communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding the project's progress.
  • Participate in project meetings and present schedule-related information.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Proficient in Asta Powerproject.
  • Previous experience in project planning within the construction industry, preferably with multistorey building projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with multiple departments.
  • Ability to identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of construction processes and timelines.
  • Experience in working with subcontractors and understanding their dependencies.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and forecast project outcomes.
