Salary: £44,195 - £50,611 per annum + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSEN Distribution is on the lookout for a dedicated Sustainability Analyst to join our team. With a pivotal role in powering 3.9 million homes and businesses, we're committed to delivering safe and reliable electricity while steering towards a net-zero future. In the role of Sustainability Analyst, you will provide support in ensuring all environmental requirements and obligations are fully incorporated and implemented into consenting standards and procedures from project optioneering through to operations. Specific areas of focus will be supporting project teams in embedding Biodiversity Net Gain approaches and tracking business-wide performance across environmental consenting. Your insights will guide strategic decisions, enhance business performance, and contribute to our Environmental Management System.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support in maintaining and continually improving the SSEN Distribution strategic consenting approaches, applying specific knowledge of planning and Biodiversity Net Gain implementation.
  • Ensuring strategic consenting approaches are standardised, robust and adhered to, maintaining business policies, procedures and guidance in this area.
  • Supporting with carbon and natural capital reporting requirements and emissions reductions initiatives with stakeholders.
  • Supporting the delivery of our Sustainability Strategy by performing thorough analysis and conveying insights to stakeholders.
  • Developing project initiatives aimed at achieving sustainability objectives, delivered within budget and timelines.
  • Assist with building and protecting important stakeholder relationships and communication with particular emphasis on statutory authorities and key consultees, to ensure excellent working relationships, consistency and stakeholder consensus are established and maintained.
  • Analysing data to identify trends affecting the business and meeting reporting requirements.

What do I need?

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Demonstrable sustainability knowledge and experience, underpinned by a relevant qualification.
  • An understanding of the energy industry and SSE's business areas.
  • Demonstrable experience of environmental consenting and Biodiversity Net Gain approaches.
  • Robust analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with the ability to manage data and extract meaningful insights.
  • Strong communication capabilities, comfortable presenting complex topics to a diverse audience.
  • A customer-focused approach, resilience in the face of change, and the ability to build networks and relationships within a diverse organisation.
