Grafton Recruitment are actively recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join our client's team based in Hull and support them in managing their transport fleet and logistics operations.

The person in this role will be responsible for efficiently managing the fleet, optimising routes, supervising drivers and ensuring compliance with road haulage regulations.

THE ROLE:

Some of your responsibilities as a Transport Manager are listed below:

  • Ensure compliant, efficient and effective operation with regard to maintenance, drivers' hours and the legal operation of the fleet.
  • People focused management professional experienced with transport team and drivers to ensure the best level of customer service is delivered.
  • To ensure that processes, responsibilities and ownership are clear to the team.
  • Manage and coordinate the scheduling of a fleet of trucks.
  • Ensure end-to-end transport processes are documented and implemented.
  • Make sure that the team is fully trained and that roles and responsibilities are clearly understood.
  • Being responsible for the operator's licence.
  • Ensure the safety, reliability and regulatory compliance of the fleet.
  • Route Planning and Optimisation
  • People focused management professional experienced with transport team and drivers to ensure the best level of customer service is delivered.
  • Review and manage the performance of the transport team on a regular basis.
  • Being responsible for planning, compliance and risk mitigation, cost saving, resilience, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Ensure efficiency and minimise costs by monitoring delivery schedules.
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs, address concerns, and ensure delivery schedules are met.
  • Building strong relationships with third party companies, negotiating contracts.
  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents and near misses, and take corrective actions to prevent future occurrences

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal Transport Manager:

  • Demonstrable minimum of 3 years' experience of working in a road haulage/transport environment.
  • Possess valid CPC Transport Manager Qualification is necessary.
  • In-depth knowledge of international road haulage regulations.
  • Expirience in managing transport operations within logistics company.
  • Understand Health and Safety rules.
  • Sound experience and understanding of transport and driver legislation and regulations.
  • Responsible, creative, and meticulous in their work.
  • Experience of communicating, steering and influencing at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Builder of personal trust through engagement and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Skills analysis and reporting.
