Atkinson Moss Engineering have been engaged to assist our industry leading client with the appointment of Senior Functional Safety Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.
Location: Norwich Onsite working (Monday to Friday 08.30-17.00)
This role focuses on the design, verification, and validation of safety-critical systems, maintaining top safety and reliability levels.
Duties:
- Deliver core Functional Safety across multiple projects.
- Develop ISO 26262 compliant products, including Item Definition, HARA, FTA, FMEA, and safety concepts.
- Create supporting documentation, safety plans, and analyses.
- Assist Firmware Team in meeting ISO 26262 requirements.
- Perform gap analyses for systems.
- Develop safety validation strategies.
- Conduct safety goal validation testing.
- Review verification activities.
- Support development activities and process implementation.
- Educate engineering teams on Functional Safety practices.
- Contribute to Functional Safety strategy and research projects.
- Develop electric systems specifications per Functional Safety Standards.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment adhering to HSE principles.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline (preferably Masters).
- Ideally chartered.
Experience:
- Experience in an engineering development environment, especially in sectors involving electrical machines (e.g., Automotive).
- Proven ability to write technical reports for verification and validation.
- Relevant integrated system testing experience.
- Expertise in ISO 26262 Functional Safety.
- Experience with IEC 61508 for industrial safety.
- Background in Systems Engineering within the Automotive, transportation, or safety industries.
- Proficient in safety analysis (HARA, FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA).
